Definition
Green Building uses design, construction and management practices that increase the efficiency of a home or building’s resources like water, energy and building materials, while reducing the impact on the natural environment and the people that live or work in that space.
Greening the (918) Green Building Goal
Greening the (918) Green Building Goal: Tulsa to expand the green building market and catch up with national trends toward green building practices and the use and availability of green building materials.
Green Tips
Greening your Home and Office:
- Caulk and weather-strip all windows and doors
- Caulk around hoses and at the electrical service entrance, look carefully for any other penetrations and seal them. Look at where the siding meets the foundation (expandable foam is great for large holes or gaps). Investigate from the outside in and the inside out!
- Reuse existing building materials when building and remodeling
- Utilize low VOC paints, caulk, and home furnishings
- Install high efficiency Light bulbs-look for LED lights!
