Alternative Energy Resources
The brainchild of native Oklahoman and OSU graduate T. Boone Pickens, the Pickens Plan proposes a blueprint to reduce foreign oil dependence by harnessing domestic energy alternatives such as wind power, conserving energy and better utilizing natural gas resources. Proponents say the plan would replace more than one-third of US foreign oil imports in 10 years. www.pickensplan.com/theplan.
The Oklahoma Wind Power Initiative (OWPI) investigates and promotes wind energy resources in the state. It provides resources and information to policy makers, property owners, and investors, and supports networking activities for wind power enthusiasts. www.seic.okstate.edu/owpi.
